I was chatting with my teacher about jobs: my difficulties, my hopes, my opportunities, my resignation. She helped me with an application and, when I told her that I wasn't called, she was surprised (more than me, actually).
At a certain moment, with a shining smile, she exclaimed: "Why don't you study to become an ESOL teacher? You could be a wonderful teacher for the lower levels!!!"
...me?
Why shocking?
ReplyDeleteYou wished to be a ISOL... you could as well become an ESOL.
After all, almost all English teachers in Italy aren’t native speakers... where is the the problem? With lower levels, I bet it can work.
There's only a small issue: I speak and write a good Italian, but what about my English??? Maybe she overestimates my capabilities. Or I underestimate them.
DeleteWe will see...
Lower levels, she said... you’re not supposed to be holding a conference.
ReplyDeleteShe’s your teacher, I guess she knows what she’s talking about.
